Vignesh Melwani

Vignesh Melwani (Barcelona, 1995) is a multidisciplinary artist who mainly uses the singing voice, along with the piano, composition, movement (kathak dance), interpretation and words. He has published 'Improvisuals' (2023), an experimental album that’s been presented at venues such as the Furiasia Festival, the BAM Festival or the Asia-Europe Cultural Festival (in Brussels). Singer of the duo he has had since 2019 with the guitarist Carla Motis, he has collaborated on different stage, audiovisual and recording projects (Chaitanya Natu, Clara Poch, Oriol Borràs, Mohammed Bitari...) and has worked in different music schools and community art projects (such as the Barcelona Coral Asia).
Under the concept of 'cultural agitator' lie his facets as a researcher, disseminator, mediator and cultural manager, addressing cultural sociology and accessibility, South Asian culture, musicology and the axes of cultural diversity, gender and social class, having collaborated with entities such as Espai Avinyó or Konvent.0.
Graduated in Humanities (UPF), in the Higher Degree of Music in Modern Singing (Conservatorio del Liceo) and the Postgraduate Degree in Performing Arts and Social Action (Institut del Teatre-ESMUC).
