Vera Pavlova
Poeta
She is considered one of the most influential voices in Russian poetry. Vera Pavlova studied musical composition at the Gnessin Academy and specialises in music history. She began her poetic career in her early twenties and since then her work has been translated into more than twenty languages, and her eighteen collections of poems, published in her own country, have been republished several times. Love, sex and female physiology are the subjects she deals with in her work with complete freedom. Her works include If there is something to desire (Knopf, 2010) —the English translation by Steven Seymour was a great success in the United States and represented the poet's consecration beyond Russia— and A banda i banda del petó (El gall editor, 2018), Pavlova's first work translated into Catalan, which won Xenia Dyakonova the III Premi PEN Català de Traducció (3rd PEN Català Translation Prize).
