Silvia Albert Sopale
Afro-Spanish actor and playwright
Graduate of the ESAD school of performing arts in Murcia. Trained in the Meisner Technique with Javier Galito-Cava. Post-graduate Degree in Expressive Arts under Consuelo Trujillo. Her training also includes various acting seminars and workshops and playwriting workshops as part of the “Obrador” activities at Sala Beckett.
Co-creator of the unipersonal No es país para Negras, which has been on tour since 2016. Actor, director and playwright for Blackface y otras vergüenzas. Actor and playwright for Hotspot, winner of an Iberescena grant, premiered and coproduced by Teatro Julio Mario Santo Domingo in Bogota. Her most recent play, Parad de pararme, has recently had its premiere. She has worked in GRRRLS, directed by Carlota Subiros, and with Carla Rovira on The Taming of the Shrew by Parking Shakespeare, Cathedral of the Sea by Antena 3, the short film Panthers directed by Erika Sanche Marcos, Daucus Carota, directed by Carla Linares, Umbered and O no será, directed by Sally Fenaux Barleycorn. She is a founding member of Hibiscus Asociacion de Afroespañolas y afrodescendientes and of Tinta Negra, and a member of t.i.c.t.a.c (workshop for critical transfeminist, antiracist, combative interventions).
