Ricardo Garcia Vilanova

Ricardo Garcia Vilanova (Barcelona, 1971) is a freelance photographer and videographer with more than 20 years of experience in conflict zones and humanitarian crises. During the last few years he has covered the Arab Spring, a work that started in Syria and Libya in 2011, and recently returned from Ukraine. He has also worked in other countries in conflict such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Mali, Gaza, Nigeria, Lebanon and Yemen, among others. Life, Time, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Le Monde and The Guardian are just some of the international media that publish his work. The Wall Street Journal nominated him for the Pulitzer Prize in 2010 and he has been awarded by organizations such as World Press Photo, Pictures of the Year (POY), NPPA or International Photography Awards. As a videographer he also holds a Rory Peck Award.
