Queralt Solé i Barjau
Historian and professor
Queralt Solé i Barjau has a degree and PhD in Contemporary History obtained at the University of Barcelona, with the thesis Les fosses comunes a Catalunya 1936-1939 (Editorial Afers, 2008). She works as a professor and secretary in the Department of History and Archaeology of the UB. She specializes in the Spanish Civil War and Franco's dictatorship, especially on topics related to repression and exile, and memory. She was responsible for the mass graves unit of the Democratic Memorial of Catalonia. She is the author of 30 anys d'història d'europeisme català (1948-1978). El "Contuberni" de Munic (Editorial Mediterrània, 1999), A les presons de Franco (Proa, 2004), Catalunya 1939: l'última derrota (Ara Llibres, 2006) and Fosses comunes i simbologia franquista (Editorial Afers, 2009). Recently, Solé Barjau has curated the exhibition "On són? 85 anys d'exhumacions de fosses comunes de la Guerra Civil a Catalunya" at the Palau Robert in Barcelona.
