Peter Weibel

Conceptual artist, art theoretician and chairman of the ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe.

Peter Weibel (1944) was a conceptual artist and art theoretician of reference in the sphere of European culture. For many years he was a professor at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and director of the Laboratory for Digital Arts at the State University of New York in Buffalo. He also was artistic director of the International Biennial of Contemporary Art of Seville, curator of the Austrian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale and chairman of the ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe. He co-edited with Siegfried Zielinski the book Flusseriana: An Intellectual Toolbox, a collection of articles on the work of the philosopher of image and language Vilém Flusser.
