Òscar Pujol Riembau
Òscar Pujol Riembau studied for his degree and teaching qualification in Sanskrit Language at the Banaras Hindu University, India, where he was later awarded a doctorate for his thesis The Samarthapada of the Tantrapradipa. Since 1993 he has been a professor at the Department of Foreign Languages at the same university. He has been a visiting professor on several occasions at the University of the Balearic Islands and the University of Barcelona. He has taken part in liaison for the signing of academic and cultural collaboration agreements between Spanish and Indian institutions. In the year 2000 he created the Spanish Centre of Sanskrit Documentation: Sanskrita-vani, with financing from the Spanish Embassy in New Delhi.
With the collaboration of F. G. Ilárraz, J. Aguado and Ch. Maillard he published the collection "Los libros de Benarés", translations of Indian philosophy and literature texts, which includes such titles as: Los cincuenta poemas del amor furtivo (1989), El nacimiento del hombre poesía (1991), El monje y la prostituta (1991) and Chandogya, Kena, Taittiriya (1992). He is associate editor of the weekly research bulletin Parana, published by the Department of Puranic Studies of the All India Kashiraj Trust, Ramnagar.
He is currently working on the production of the first Sanskrit-Catalan dictionary and on the Spanish edition of The Tantrapradipa of Maitreyaraksita, a 12th century commentary on Sanskrit grammar.
