Noémi Varga
Filmmaker
Noémi Varga is a London-based filmmaker and a graduate of the Royal College of Art, where she specialised in Moving Image. Her work explores the boundaries of conventional documentary filmmaking, applying the tools of cinematic storytelling to all her subjects.
Her first short, The Happiest Barrack won three BAFTA-qualifying awards and premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. Her Film London-funded short And It Was The Same With My Son, about a British Muslim mother who has lost her child to radicalisation, premiered at Sheffield Doc/Fest 2019, where it was acquired by The Atlantic. Most recently, Noémi was invited to Berlinale Talents 2021 as part of Short Form Station, with a short documentary in development focusing on Eastern European seasonal labourers in the UK.
