Nina Simon

Nina Simon is the Executive Director of the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History (MAH), California. Her work is focused on ways that museums can integrate community and user-focused design into cultural institutions.

She is the person behind the popular blog Museum 2.0, which explores design and research of participatory museum experiences. In 2010, Nina published the book The Participatory Museum, a practical guide that put together innovative design techniques and case studies to make a powerful case for participatory practice.

Nina lectures and gives workshops on audience participation worldwide. Previously, she worked as a consultant with museums, libraries, art centers, and nature centers on community co-design. She served as Curator at The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose, CA, and was the Experience Development Specialist at the International Spy Museum  de Washington, D.C.

Nina has been called a "museum visionary" by Smithsonian Magazine, as per her community-centered approach to design experiences in cultural sphere.
