Miquel Figueras Moreu
Anthropologist
Miquel Figueras is responsible for the AlterNativa Intercanvi ab Pobles Indígenes research area, Associate Professor in the Anthropology Department of the Autonomous University of Barcelona and member of the Anthropology and History of the Construction of Social and Political Identities research group.
His field of study is the indigenous societies of the Guyanese and Amazonian areas, and in particular the Carib E'nyepa people of Venezuela with whom he has worked aspects of the political and symbolic relationship with the territory. In his expertise he has combined ethnographic research with applied tasks such as the technical work of the demarcation of indigenous lands in Venezuela, the educational service at the Ethnological and World Cultures Museum in Barcelona and the defense of rights at the AlterNativa Exchange with Indigenous Peoples entity, where he participates in research, film and communication projects.
