Milagros Pérez Oliva

A journalist specialising in society and health, Milagros Pérez Oliva is particularly interested in questions of bioethics and biomedicine. She has spent a good part of her career as a journalist working for the daily El País where she was chief editor of the Catalonia edition, Press Ombudswoman, and she also designed and coordinated the health supplement. She is presently a member of the El País opinion and editorials team. She has also been a lecturer in Journalism and Scientific Media for several postgraduate courses in universities, including the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) and the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM). She has received a number of awards for her journalism, among them the National Prize for Journalism of the Generalitat (Government) of Catalonia, the Margarita Rivière Prize, awarded by the Association of Women Journalists of Catalonia (ADPC), and the Medalla Josep Trueta al Mèrit Sanitari of the  Generalitat. Furthermore, she has also been member of the Bioethics Committee of Catalonia. She regularly takes part in panel discussions analysing current affairs in radio and television programmes like El Matí de Catalunya Ràdio, Cafè d'idees y El Vespre de RTVE, Via Lliure de RAC1 o Els matins de TV3.
