Michael Keith

Professor of Anthropology at the University of Oxford, where he heads the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS). He is also co-director of the 'Future of Cities' programme, co-ordinator of 'Urban Transformations' and the director of the 'PEAK Urban Research' programme. His research focuses on the link between migration and urban transformation, mainly on studying cultural differences and the impact of migration on the structures and processes of urban government. In addition to his research interests, he has worked with several organisations combating racial discrimination in the legal sphere and has established the cultural foundation Rich Mix. He was also a commissioner on the National Commission on Integration and Cohesion, the Blair government’s response to the London bombings in 2005. He is author of China Constructing Capitalism: Economic Life and Urban Change (Routledge, 2014).
