Mayte Gómez Molina

Mayte Gómez-Molina (Madrid, 1993) is a Spanish researcher, new-media artist, and writer whose practice is based on 3D animation, virtual reality, and the digital moving image. These are used to explore themes such as the body as a political subject, perception as social contract, construction of identity in physical and digital spaces, and visibility and invisibility as means for survival. Her works, films and texts have been exhibited or published in numerous festivals and events around the world. A 2019-2021 Fulbright Scholar, Gómez-Molina completed a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Cinema, Video, New Media, and Animation at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has won several accolades such as best fiction award at Málaga Crea (2018), the XXXIII Certamen Literario Jorge Guillén (2016), the XIII Certamen Literario Eugenio Carbajal (2015), and the XI Certamen Literario María Augustina (2014). In 2021, she published a collection of poems, including an essay and visual experiment created from images obtained from the Internet. It was just one piece in Gómez-Molina’s first solo exhibition, entitled “Me veo la nuca” (I Can See the Back of my Neck).
