Maria Pipla
Researcher and audiovisual artist
Maria Pipla (Barcelona, 1993) is an artist and researcher. She’s currently studying for a PhD in Humanities at Pompeu Fabra University and was previously trained in Film and Contemporary Audiovisual Creation (LAV, Madrid) and Research in Art and Design (EINA, Barcelona). Through audiovisual practices (films, film performances and installations), she explores images as potential gestures of resistance. Her work is choreographically based on the notion of rhythm and the sensitive link between bodies, spaces and cinematographic devices. This approach has led her to develop and present her projects in various formats and contexts, such as the Muestra de Cine Periférico (S8), Anthology Film Archives (USA), Xcèntric, Cineteca de Madrid, Baltic Analog Lab (LV), Labor Berlin (DE), Cine Humberto Mauromais (BR), La Bonne, Arxiu Comarcal de l'Urgell and Fabra i Coats, among others.
