Mar García Puig

Philologist, editor and politician

Mar García (Barcelona, 1977) has a degree in English Philology from the University of Barcelona and a master's degree in Cognitive Science and Language. As an editor she has published articles in several media such as La Vanguardia, El Periódico, El Diario, Público or CTXT. From 2015 to 2023 she has been a member of the Spanish Congress of Deputies for En Comú Podem, where she has served as spokesperson in the Culture Committee and has been vice-president of the Equality Committee. She has collaborated with books such as LGBTI (Sembra Llibres, 2020), Neorrancios. Sobre los peligros de la nostalgia (Península, 2022) and Más que visibles (Egales, 2022). Her first book is La història dels vertebrats (La Magrana, 2023/ translated into Spanish by Penguin Random House, 2023, as La historia de los vertebrados), in which she talks about the depression she has suffered after becoming a mother of twins and a congresswoman at the same time.
