Luis Fondebrider

President of the Equipo Argentino de Arqueología Forense (Argentine Forensic Archaeology Team)

 (Argentina, 1963). Luis Fondebrider has a degree in Anthropology and, in 1984, he founded and was made president of the Equipo Argentino de Arqueología Forense (EAAF – Argentine Forensic Archaeology Team), a pioneering group in the applications of forensic science in recovering and identifying the remains of the victims of violence during the military dictatorship in Argentina. His work as head of EAAF has led to his working with different international organisations, for example the United Nations, and he has sat on international tribunals in inquiries into cases of political violence in some forty countries of South America, Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East. He is a founder-member of the Asociación Latinoamericana de Antropología Forense (Latin American Association of Forensic Anthropology – ALAF), which was established in 2002. Since 2000 he has been teaching in the Department of Legal Medicine and Deontology of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Buenos Aires.
