Karina Gibert

Professor at the Technical University of Catalonia

With a degree and a PhD in Computer Science, Karina Gibert specializes in artificial intelligence and big data. She teaches several subjects on statistics, multivariate analysis, data mining, data science and intelligent decision support systems at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-Barcelona Tech (UPC). She is the co-founder and current director of the Intelligent Data Science and Artificial Intelligence research center (IDEAI-UPC) and dean of the Official College of Computer Engineering of Catalonia. She is also a consultant to the Catalan and Spanish governments and the European Commission on ethics and AI issues, and is editor of the journal Environmental Modelling and Software. She is the director of the course ciutadanIA and she is the academic director of the training platform Top Secret Rosies, aimed at girls who have completed Steam degrees and participates in the UPC's Aquí STEAM program.
