Karen Barad

Philosopher and physicist

(United States, 1956)

Professor of Feminist Studies, Philosophy, and History of Consciousness at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Her research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the Hughes Foundation, the Irvine Foundation, the Mellon Foundation, and the National Endowment for Humanities. Co-director of the Science and Justice training programme for postgraduate students at UCSC, Barad is the author of Meeting the Universe Halfway: Quantum Physics and the Entanglement of Matter and Meaning (2007), a study in which she deepens her concept and theoretical proposal of Agential Realism. Her scholarly commitment is in the areas of Science, Technology, and Gender.
