Josep Maria Llovet

ICREA lecturer in Research at IDIBAPS (August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute) – Hospital Clinic of Barcelona

He is currently director of the Liver Cancer Programme and Professor of Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York. He is also president of the International Liver Cancer Association (ILCA) and Chair for Management of Liver Cancer of the association European Clinical Practice Guidelines. He has published more than eighty articles in international journals, some forty chapters in books, has given approximately four hundred lectures, and has been awarded international prizes, among them the AACR-Landon International Award (2009) and the International Hans Popper Award (2012). His research into liver cancer has led to new kinds of treatment (Sorafenib) and clinical guidelines, as well as definition of molecular targets through studies of the cancer cell genome.
