Jane Lazarre

The American author and journalist Jane Lazarre has written numerous books of fiction and non-fiction. Through her accounts of her personal experiences and those of members of her family, her body of work analyses key aspects of the contemporary world, such as the effects of colonialism in the United States, the continuing survival of racism and the political legacy of communism. Her most recent book is The Communist and the Communist’s Daughter: A Memoir (2017). In her work The Mother Knot (1977), she takes issue with preconceived ideas about motherhood.
