Ivonne Villamil

Visual and sound artist. Through her practice, she investigates the soundscape in an expanded sense, exploring aspects not audible to the human ear to approach interspecies interaction, materiality, and atmospheric phenomena, as well as the planetary-scale sound universe. As a cultural producer and university lecturer, she creates dynamic collaborative work networks between art, science, and technology. She is a doctoral candidate in the program "The Besieged Reality. Concept, Process, and Artistic Experimentation" at the University of Barcelona and a member of the GIIP Research Group in Art, Science, and Technology at UNESP, Brazil.

Her artistic work and research have earned various recognitions, such as the Intermediate Career Artist Award and the Doctoral Studies Abroad Grant from the Ministry of Culture of Colombia, or the residency at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, among others. She has been an artist-in-residence at Tabakalera, Hangar, and B.A.S.E Tsonami, and has participated in the Jardim Mineral Program of the Museu das Minas e do Metal in Belo Horizonte and numerous sound art symposia and festivals.
