Isona Passola
Film producer, president of the Catalan Film Academy.
(Barcelona, 1953) With a degree in Contemporary History from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, she is an actress and film director. She founded Massa d’Or Producciónsof which she is sole administrator. With this company she has produced a great number of feature length films and documentaries as well as television films, the latter including Sergi Doladé’s documentary series Las veus del català (The Voices of Catalan, 2008), the feature film Catalunya-Espanya (Catalonia-Spain, 2009) and, more recently, Pà Negre (Black Bread, 2010), which was directed by Agustí Villaronga. She is presently working on a documentary on the independence of Catalonia, titled L’endemà (The Day After). She is a member of the plenary council of the National Council for Culture and the Arts (ConNCA), president of APIMED (International Association of Independent Producers of the Mediterranean), a member of the City of Barcelona Culture Council, and president of the Catalan Film Academy. A regular guest speaker on Catalunya Ràdio programmes, she also teaches film adaptation of literature in the Blanquerna Faculty of the Ramon Llull University. She has been awarded the Lluís Carulla Prize of Honour (2012) and the Saint George Cross of the Generalitat (Government) of Catalonia (2012).
