Isabel Requena

Filmmaker

Isabel Requena studied Audiovisual Communication at the University of Valencia and Film Directing at the Centre d'Estudis Cinematogràfics de Catalunya. She began making audiovisuals for the performing arts and soon became interested in experimental and documentary filmmaking. In 2008 she co-founded Produccions Mínimes, where she works as a producer, director and editor.

She's produced television programmes such as Paraules al vent (TV3 Actual Award 2006) and El món a les mans for XTVL, Bestiari il-lustrat for Canal 33, La felicidad en 4 minutos for La 2, La galeria dels oficis for Betevé and Dopamina for 3Cat. In the documentary field, she's the director, scriptwriter and editor of La ruta blava, based on the novel by Josep Maria de Sagarra and co-produced by TV3/TVE, as well as A puerta cerrada, a documentary about the first few weeks of confinement, screened at Docs de Betevé 2020 and selected for the Alcances 2020 Documentary Film Festival.

In 2020-2021, she taught classes in production and editing at the Barcelona School of Audiovisual Media (EMAV), discovering another facet of this profession.
