Ignacio Maeso

Graduated in Biology at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, he received his PhD in the Department of Genetics at the University of Barcelona. His interest in evolution and the great diversity of animal forms existing on the planet have surrounded his academic career, which has been focused on the study of the evolution of vertebrates. Part of his research has been carried out in centers of international reputation such as the Department of Zoology at the University of Oxford. In 2018, after spending time at the Andalusian Center for Developmental Biology in Seville, he formed his independent research group that will move to the University of Barcelona in 2022, in which he is investigating the earliest stages of evolutionary processes.
