Frederic Bartumeus is the principal investigator and an ICREA research professor at the Blanes Centre for Advanced Studies (CEAB-CSIC), where he is director of the Department of Continental Ecology. He holds a PhD in biology from Barcelona University (UB) and his academic career has focused on the study and application of statistical models in order to establish animal dispersal and movement patterns. This has made him a world-renowned expert in the field of migration ecology, a discipline focusing on the way organisms influenced by movement interact with the environment.
