Frank Furedi
Professor of Sociology at the University of Kent. Since 1995, and particularly since 11-M, he has researched the sociology of fear and the cultural processes that have influenced the construction of risk awareness in the contemporary world. He is the author, among other books, of Population and Development (Polity Press, 1997), The Silent War (Pluto Press, 1998), Culture of Fear (revised edition, Continuum, 2002), Politics of Fear (Continuum Press, 2005) and Where Have All the Intellectuals Gone? Confronting 21st Century Philistinism (second edition, Continuum Press, 2006). He is currently working on two interrelated texts: Disasters, Terrorism and the Growth of a Market in Fear and Rumours.
