Francesc-Marc Álvaro

Writer, journalist and lecturer at the Ramon Llull University.

 (Vilanova i la Geltrú, 1967) After obtaining a degree in Information Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, he has worked as a political editor, head of the Opinion section and columnist for the newspaper Avui while also writing for El Observador and El Mundo de Cataluña. For two years he was editor-in-chief of the monthly magazine Cultura, which is published by the Department of Culture of the Generalitat (Government) of Catalonia. He is presently a columnist and editorial writer for the Barcelona-based daily La Vanguardia and the reviews Esguard and Serra d´Or, while also participating in debates on the radio station RAC1 and the television channels 8TV and TV3. Furthermore, he is a lecturer in Journalism in the Blanquerna Faculty of Communication Sciences at the Ramon Llull University. He has written several books, including Els assassins de Franco (Franco’s Killers, La Esfera de los Libros, 2005), Una política sense país (Politics without a Country, Columna Edicions, Llibres i Comunicació, S.A., 2005) and Entre la mentira y el olvido. El laberinto de la memora colectiva (Between Lie and Oblivion: The Labyrinth of Collective Memory, RBA, 2012). He has been awarded numerous prizes, notable amongst which are the National Prize for Journalism and the Recull Prize.
