David Murillo
Lecturer in the Department of Social Sciences at ESADE
David Murillo holds a PhD in Sociology (Universidad de Barcelona), an undergraduate degree in Humanities (Universidad Oberta de Catalunya) and an undergraduate degree in Business Administration (Universidad de Barcelona). He is currently a Lecturer in the ESADE Department of Social Sciences. His teaching and research interests include business ethics, geopolitical thought and globalisation.
Professionally, he has also worked in the financial sector in commercial banking, in the public sector as a local development agent and in the not-for-profit sector as of an NGO administrator. He has also worked as a consultant in the Corporate Social Responsibility area for the Government of Catalonia, the Spanish Ministry of Industry, UNDP and UNIDO (United Nations) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), in addition to a wide variety of important firms. He has also served as a visiting and/or guest lecturer at numerous universities, including Universitat de Girona (Spain), Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain), Universidad de Sevilla (Spain), Copenhagen Business School (Denmark), Universidad del Pacífico and ESAN (Peru) and Sogang Business School (South Korea).
He actively presents his research in conferences around the world and contributes regularly to newspapers and other publications. Recent noteworthy publications include: From Walmart to Al Qaeda. An interdisciplinary approach to globalization (2015), published by Greenleaf Publishing and translated into Spanish and Catalan, and “The Business School’s Right to Operate: Responsibilization and Resistance,” published in the Journal of Business Ethics (2015).
