Cristina de Llanos Santaulària

My name is Cristina de Llanos Santaulària and I was born in Sant Cugat del Vallès in 1990. Ever since I was a child, I dreamt of living in the countryside and having my own farm but it wasn’t until 2010 that I finally found my way. I studied Ecological Agriculture and Animal Husbandry at vocational school and did a course to train as a shepherd. Subsequently, I worked with different herds of sheep and goats until 2019 when I purchased my own herd and together with a friend, launched the project Remugabosc. Nowadays, we keep the herd in Begues, where we have an agreement with the local council to maintain the buffer strips surrounding the town to protect it against fires. We also sell meat from the herds directly to consumers. I am a member of both Ramaderes de Catalunya and Ganaderas en Red (GeR), two associations comprising female shepherds, which not only bring our work to the public eye but at the same time empower us as an entity.
