Carola Ortiz
Singer, clarinetist, composer, and producer specialising in jazz
She came of age musically at the Jazz Cava in Terrassa and the Conservatory in the same city, where she began to immerse herself in the jazz scene. She later studied at the Taller de Músics and at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) for both voice and clarinet. Her passion for music has led her to travel to different countries, giving her a broad and varied background, enriched by cultures from around the world, many of which are reflected in her compositions. Throughout her career she has collaborated with renowned jazz, flamenco, and world-folk artists on a total of 20 albums. She has also participated in international jazz and folk festivals in the United States, Canada, India, Germany, and Italy, among others. In 2016, she began her solo career with the albums Sirin (2016), twice nominated for the Independent Music Awards in New York, and Spirala (2018), included among the best albums of 2019 recommended by the American journalist Ted Gioia.
