Bonaventura Clotet

Director of IrsiCaixa.

He completed a Doctorate in Medicine at the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 1981 and, among several other positions he also occupies, is presently Head of the HIV Unit and Director of the Retrovirology Laboratory of the IrsiCaixa Foundation at the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital in Badalona. Furthermore, he is president of the Fundació Lluita contra la Sida (Fight against AIDS Foundation), co-director of the HIVACAT project for developing an AIDS vaccine in Spain, and an associate lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. In the international sphere, he is a member of the steering committee of EuroSIDA (a multi-centre group for the study of AIDS in Europe) and an active member of organising and scientific committees for international AIDS conferences and workshops on drug resistance. He has published more than five hundred articles in newspapers and international journals and is a member of the editorial boards of several scientific publications, including HIV Medicine and Expert Review of Clinical Immunology. He has received the Catalan Health Institute Award and the Josep Trueta Medal for Merit in Public Health as well as other prizes.
