Blanca Rego

(Ferrol, 1974)

Audiovisual artist, filmmaker, and noisemaker, also known by her alias _blank. She studied film directing and, fascinated by abstract animation, she also studied animation and digital art. Her main professional focus is the relationship between image and sound, with considerable influences of both classical experimental cinema and electronic music. Her work has been screened in many art centres, including the "Xcèntric" programme of the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB), the ZKM (Karlsruhe), the Barbican Centre (London) and the Telefónica Foundation Space in Madrid. She also works as an editor and translator for journals and institutions in the artistic and cultural domains. She has curated film cycles for international festivals like Curtocircuíto, and also gives lectures on experimental cinema and electronic art.
