Begonya Enguix

A researcher and university professor, expert in gender discourses, bodies and digital identities, since 2015 she organizes the international conference Men in Movement.

Begonya Enguix holds a PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology and is a professor of Arts and Humanities at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). Since 2015, she has been organising the international conference Men in Movement (MIM) together with Krizia Nardini and Paco Abril. In 2019, she held the Aigner-Rollett Visiting Professorship for Women’s and Gender Studies at Karl-Franzens Universität in Graz (Austria), where she continues to teach classes on gender and masculinities. She is also the director of the research group “Medusa: Genders in Transition: Masculinities, Affects, Bodies, and Technoscience” at the UOC and throughout her career she has participated in various national and international research projects on migration, bodies, masculinities and digital identities, among other topics. She has co-edited various books, such as Sexualities, Gender and Violence: A View from the Iberian Peninsula, with Cristina Pereira Vieira (Nova, 2020), a collection of articles from various disciplines that looks at perspectives on gender and sexuality in southern Europe. She is also the author of essays such as Orgullo, protesta, negocio y otras derivas LGTB (Doce Calles, 2019) and has published numerous articles in prestigious international scientific journals such as Feminist Theory and the European Journal of English Studies.
