Assumpta Bassas Vila
A lecturer in History of Contemporary Art at the University of Barcelona, she is an art critic, exhibition curator, and organiser of educational projects. She is a member of the research group Duoda. Humanitats Digitals en Femení (Duoda: Digital Humanities in Feminine) in which she mainly studies contemporary artists of the 1960s and 1970s, feminism and art, the relationship between history of art and sexual difference, and key aspects of feminine spirituality in contemporary art. As well as her academic career, she has also curated projects and exhibitions including Topografies: atles mèdic-artístic. Obres de Laia Martí Puig i Cori Mercadé (Topographies: Medical-Artistic Atlas and Works by Laia Martí Puig and Cori Mercadé, which was shown in Sala Muncunill, Terrassa, Sala Joan Comelles, Masnou, and CAM, Mataró, 2014-2015) and, together with Joana Masó, Blanc sota Negre. Treballs des de l’imperceptible (White under Black: Works from the Imperceptible, Arts Santa Mònica, 2014-2015). Notable examples of her written work are “Feminismo y arte en Cataluña en las dècades de los sesenta y setenta. Escenas abiertas y esferes de reflexión” (Feminism and Art in Catalonia in the 1960s and 1970s: Open Scenes and Spheres of Reflection) in Genealogías feministas en el arte español: 1960-2010 (Feminist Genealogies in Spanish Art: 1960-2010, This Side Up, 2013), and “¿Has recibido la carta de Heloïse?” (Have You received the Letter from Heloïse?) in Heloïse Perfundet Omnia Luce (Sabina Editorial, 2015).
