Aída Bueno Sarduy
Anthropologist and documentary filmmaker
Anthropologist and documentary filmmaker, whose main areas of work are postcolonial studies and feminist theory and criticism. She is a lecturer at different universities in the United States, notable among them New York University, Boston University, and Stanford University. She has specialised in the culture of the African diaspora in Latin America, black culture, and interethnic relations, and she also researches into the female slave trade in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil, at the end of the nineteenth century. She is also co-author of the book Cultos afroamericanos: dioses, orishas, santería y vudú (African-American Cults: Gods, Orishas, Santería, and Voodoo, Ediciones Eunate, 2016).
