RADAR #6 Aída Bueno Sarduy

Aída Bueno is an anthropologist and filmmaker who dedicates her research and audiovisual work to recovering from the archives the stories of thousands of Black women who were enslaved, silenced and forgotten by official history. Such is the case of Joaquina de Angola, a girl from a plantation in Brazil who managed to escape from her master and free herself.

At the CCCB, Aída Bueno has created “Joaquina de Angola. Memory of a liberation”, an audiovisual installation that honours the representation and memory of Joaquina and countless other Black women who fought for their freedom.
