The process of making "Urban Nature" at the CCCB

A short documentary film about the work of Rimini Protokoll

For four months (April-July 2021), a group of students from the MA in Creative Documentary at the UPF shadowed the three members of the theatre company Rimini Protokoll (Helgard Haug, Stefan Kaegi and Daniel Wetzel) and set designer Dominic Huber as they prepared the play Urban Nature at the CCCB.

This documentary shows the German theatre company's work during these intense months of work, side by side with the CCCB's production, exhibition and audiovisual teams. Urban Nature is the result of a laborious technical and set design production and a creative process that responds to a groundbreaking way of understanding stage, exhibition and audiovisual formats and languages.

The Rimini Protokolls' creative process doesn't accept the separation between space and narration, between "the actor" and the audience, right down to the assembly of the set design and the rehearsals with the characters. The short film, made by the participants of the Master's in Creative Documentary at the UPF, takes us into the experience of the German company at the CCCB with the help of set designer Dominic Huber.

Production: Andrea Pardo, Xisi Sofía Ye Chen, Agustín Flores, Cristina Ramírez and Alba Bresolí.
