The cultures of work

The exhibition The Cultures of Work takes a look back at the past, though concentrating mainly on the last two hundred years, during which time work has become a veritable catalyst of man's life in areas such as social and productive organisation and the creation of characteristic class traits; but it has also, needless to say, been the cornerstone of the process of progressive mobilisation of a historically sedentary society and even of the creation of utopias and dreams in the collective imaginary.

The exhibition, co-produced with Mission pour la célébration de l'an 2000, will be presented at the same time in Barcelona and Forbach (France), in the town's now obsolete colliery. It will use set reconstructions, installations and audiovisual resources along with original objects from the world of work to reflect on the theme.
