When My World Was More World
Screening and discussion with Déborah Danowski
Audiovisuals + Debate
On the occasion of the screening of the film Quando o meu mundo era mais mundo (When My World Was More World) by Déborah Danowski and Frederico Benevides (2021), Déborah Danowski discusses the emotions that are mobilised and paralysed in the climate crisis.
On the brink of the Sixth Extinction, and aware of the effects (some already irreversible) of the climate emergency, the feeling of loss of the world is an omnipresent fact of life today. In this situation, fear of the future or nostalgia for a better past alternate with hope for a still viable possibility for change and the joy of battles won in joint struggle. Philosopher Déborah Danowski and filmmaker Frederico Benevides give words and images to a present that is full of uncertainties, in which emotions can paralyse us or help us to bring about change. After the screening of the film Quando o meu mundo era mais mundo (37 minutes), the philosopher Déborah Danowski will discuss the challenges that confront humanity today.
