Under the Skin of Albert Sánchez Piñol

Lecture in the frame of the science fiction convention «Eurocon 2016»

Debate

Cold Skin is a world-renowned work but what is under Albert Sánchez Piñol’s skin? Alicia Gilli will take us through the present, past and future of one of the key figures of Catalan literature.

Albert Sánchez Piñol is currently the most widely translated Catalan author. He started out by studying law but gave it up to study anthropology. He is known around the world for his book Cold Skin, the most widely translated work of Catalan literature of all time. He has also made a foray into the world of essays and historic novels with Victus.

The CCCB will be the headquarters of Eurocon 2016 and as part of the ongoing programme of Kosmopolis, it will be hosting three lectures which the general public can attend: «Under the skin of Albert Sánchez Piñol», presented by Alicia Gili; «Brandon Sanderson, the master of Cosmere», presented by Ricard Ruiz Garzón; and «The pixel narrative: Rhianna Pratchett in conversation», presented by Gina Tost.

Eurocon is the European science fiction annual convention which has been held in cities around the world since 1972. Organised by the European Science-Fiction Society (ESFS), the convention includes academic debates and studies of the genre. The organising committee of each Eurocon is chosen by a ballot of the delegates attending the event two years earlier. The voting procedure is coordinated by the ESFS. The event combines the European convention and the national convention of the organising country. This year’s convention is called BCon and will include Hispacon (the Spanish convention) and the CatCon (the Catalan convention).

Presenters: Alícia Gili
