This month, Johan Kramer’s 44

This month Screen at the CCCB present Johan Kramer’s 44.

 

When Jan Jasper Kramer (1964) was 10 years old, he changed his name to Johan, because he was such a big fan of Netherland football player Johan Neeskens who played for Ajax and FC Barcelona. After an unsuccessful attempt to become a football player himself, he started writing and making films. He co-founded KesselsKramer, a communications agency in Amsterdam and has been a full-time director of the company for 5 years. He often films in his second place of residence, Barcelona. Johan moves constantly between commercials, photography, short films, music videos, documentaries (The Other Final), feature films (Sing for Darfur), video installations and most importantly, home-movies about his family. Johan doesn't give too much importance to genre and he likes to describe his work as basically storytelling. This is why the 44-year-old Netherlander filmmaker is presenting 44 stories at the CCCB. In May, Johan will shoot his second feature film, Johan 1 (named after Johan Neeskens) in Barcelona.
