This month Screen at the CCCB present Benet Román.
Benet Román, the smart guy
Paco Umbral called him ‘'an insolent technician'' during a professional visit that took place at the writer's home in Madrid. He wasn't totally off the mark, because insolence towards audiovisual conventions has marked Benet Román in his most personal creations. To this there is an added human generosity which is also transferred to the screen or a monitor: during the ten years that we worked together, the only thing that I could never argue with him about was his total dedication to a project, whether it was a video clip, a television programme or the recording of a concert. Benet belongs to the generation that did not see Blade Runner on the large screen; he received his education through the video club. For this reason, his expressive capacity is multidisciplinary and he does not understand image unless it is intoxicated by other essences.
