The Summer of Writing

The things that are silenced, the things that are left half said, the things that are whispered: violence inhabits language, and by means of language, it is possible to go beyond violence; to understand it and also to bear it. We are bodies that read, that listen, that write, that speak. On our bodies we see the wounds of language.

Cristina Rivera Garza is a writer. She has just published El invencible verano de Liliana (Literatura Random House, 2021), and her essay Los muertos indóciles (Consonni, 2021) has been reedited.
