Premiere in Spain of the documentary Laughing to Death (2016, 92’) about freedom of expression, humour and political satire, by the journalist and Syriza MEP Stelios Kouloglou, who will be present at the screening and for the subsequent debate.

A session devoted to the relations between humour, power and political satire in the form of a double bill, with the screening of Laughing to death, by Stelios Kouloglou, journalist, documentarist and Syriza MEP at the European Parliament, and a colloquium with the participation of Gonzalo Boye (lawyer, lecturer in Criminal Procedural Law, and former editor of Mongolia magazine) and Atxe (graphic humorist of La Marea and Cuarto Poder, https://atxehumorgrafico.wordpress.com/).

Laughing to death looks at relations between satire and politics from the ranks of activism. It is based around the three stories of America’s The Yes Men, German humourist Martin Sonneborn, editor of Titanic magazine and MEP, and flash mob activists and their anti-CETA and TTIP actions in Brussels. The documentary ends with the last interview given by Charb, editor of Charlie Hebdo.
