The American Dream: a Trip accross TV Series
Debate
With the help of Serielizados, we take a trip to “Suburbia”, exploring the seminal American television series that have fed popular culture around the word, and in conversation with Robin Green, writer and executive producer for The Sopranos and Northern Exposure.
From family sitcoms in houses on tree-lined streets to high school series and intimate dramas in domestic spaces, the suburban landscape is one of the most common settings in television. With Víctor Sala, Ainhoa Marzol, and Enric Albero, we analyze some of the landmark TV series that have shaped the American dream through this idyllic image, as well as the fictions that reveal the dark side of the suburban utopia.
Later, we talk with Robin Green, writer and executive producer for series like The Sopranos and Northern Exposure and a winner of multiple Emmy awards. Green will share some of the experiences included in her memoir The Only Girl (Little, Brown and Company, 2018), where she tells the story of her beginnings as a journalist at Rolling Stone and her time as a screenwriter for some of the most famous TV series in recent decades.
