Philosophy in a World in Conflict

Lecture by Carlos Fraenkel

When the Berlin Wall came down, it was taken for granted that all the countries in the world would end up adopting the political model and lifestyle of western liberal democracies. But this was not the case. Iroquois Indians, Hassidic Jews, Indonesia’s Muslim community: Carlos Fraenkel visits political and religious communities which do not fit into secular western parameters and, with the help of philosophy, engages in dialogue with them. On what shared basis can we talk with people from other cultures?

This lecture is programmed as one of the activities for the launch of Enseñar Platón en Palestina. Filosofía en un mundo dividido (Teaching Plato in Palestine, Ariel).
