Mysterious Objects: shorts and videos by Apichatpong Weerasethakul

Audiovisuals

Alongside his full-length films, Apichatpong Weerasethakul has made shorts, videos and pieces for installations, in super-8, 16 mm, 35 mm and digital video and using a mobile phone. This session includes much of this little-known, more experimental body of work: like a great tree hung with myths, legends, visions and takes, in which autobiographical memory and sensuality combine with political (or aesthetic) resistance in the face of the totalitarian Thai government to take up the challenge that Elias Canetti staked out for the poet: the custodian of metamorphosis.
