Merciless Diaries (7): The Mother, the Artist and the Mirror...

Audiovisuals

Am I or am I not you? Do you feel I’m still part of you? Could it be that there is nothing of you in me? These are some of the questions to emerge from this programme, in which two artists portray their mothers from close and from afar. Using reflective devices that act like mirrors, real or metaphorical, and unlike the hysteria of boys with their devouring mothers, the girls play a game of progressive closeness, ranging from complete absence to the surface of the skin. The camera is the tool they use in this complex and sometimes painful process of identification that studies strangeness and intimacy in a single movement.
