In Praise of Adventure: Paradoxes of Security
Lecture by Frédéric Gros
Debate
With the economic crisis, words like “risk”, “uncertainty”, “instability” and “insecurity” are now being heard again in public discourse after a long absence. Does this suggest that the security and stability we had attained were just a mirage? What price have we paid for this fantasy of protection or absence of danger?
Frédéric Gros, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Paris-XII and the Institute of Political Studies (Sciences-Po) of Paris, has recently published A Philosophy of Walking (Verso, 2014 – translated into Spanish with the title Andar. Una filosofia, Taurus, 2014).
Presented by: Miguel Morey, Emeritus Professor of Philosophy at the University of Barcelona.
