Nadia Urbinati

Professor of Political Science at Columbia University, New York. In 2008 she was awarded the Commendatore della Republica prize for her contributions to the study of democracy and dissemination of liberal democratic Italian thought. She is co-editor of the review Constellations: An International Journal of Critical and Democratic Theory. She is also author of various books such as Mill on Democracy (University of Chicago Press, 2004, winner of the David and Elaine Spitz Prize for the best book of the year on liberal and democratic theory), Representative Democracy: Principles and Genealogy (University of Chicago Press, 2006) and Democracy Disfigured (Harvard University Press, 2014).
